Q&A: meet Sarah Wolfe, she switched games but she’s still winning

The ex-video presenter Sarah Wolfe, who is now on the other side of the interviewing lens, has just dropped her fourth official track titled 100 Times. The song is polished, It’s creative and a treat that has so many different levels. It’s just one of those songs that when you hear it for the first time you feel like you’ve known it forever. I was singing along after the second listen absolutely not being able to hit a single high note.

The Sydney based performer teamed up with triple j newcomers The Flowers as well as her partner Xavier Dunn to create this fun bubbly track. FYI, Aggy (frontwoman of The Flowers) is her best friend! How fun to write a track with your best mate and have your partner produce it. That’s some seriously magical sh*t right there.

Sarah’s voice is a like mixture of Meg Mac and CXLOE. She has such a different sound but if we had to place her it would be on the same wavelength as those two. Just straight up sensual.

We had a chat with Sarah about her new release, her ideal holiday and other ways she chooses to express creativity.

Here’s a look into our chat:

Hey Sarah! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience with music so far?

Hi Fine Tune! Well I grew up in Sydney, studied singing for a bit, dropped out of uni, started working for a music media company, and then decided it was about time I got over the fear of putting my own music out!

Can you tell us a bit about your experience being a video presenter?

To be honest, I kind of fell into it! I was working for a media company creating content behind the scenes, and ended up putting my hand up for some on camera interviews with some artists I loved. I ended up getting to interview some AMAZING artists like LANY, Troye Sivan, Matt Corby, Saskwatch, Waterparks, Fall Out Boy, and so so many more! I can’t actually watch them back though because I am too embarrassed by everything I say ever haha.

Talk to us about your new song ‘100 Times’ which features your best mates band!

This is my favourite song I have ever released! Definitely a new sound direction, it feels the most like me if that makes sense.

It came together super quick, Aggy (from The Flowers) came over to Xav and I’s apartment, and we wrote this song in a few hours! It was all about Aggy and I’s trip to New York, and the intense nostalgia you feel when you miss a time and a place. We have been friends since we were in high school, and once we both started making music it was always a dream to get to release something together!

How did it feel to have your song picked by Normani for her workout playlist?

It was probably the most surreal morning haha! I absolutely thought she had made a mistake, because I Think We’re Alone Now is such a slow chill song, I had no idea how anyone could work out to it. But it turned out that the second half was all her yoga songs! I like to image Normani getting all zen to Xav and I’s voices.

Your Instagram feed tells a creative story, are you quite creative outside the realm of music?

When I finished high school, my decision was definitely between studying graphic design and studying music. I ended up going with music, but I have always had a passion for visuals – my mum is an artist, so she definitely instilled a love of art from an early age in me. I do a lot of my own video editing and graphic design work (and a little bit for other people as well!), and I would love to re-teach myself photography so I can become a one-woman content house haha!

Pineapple on a pizza Y or N?

To be honest, I have never tried Pineapple on pizza… so jury is still out.

If you were an ice cream flavour which one would you be and why?

I would be vanilla ice cream covered in 100’s and 1000’s, because I could eat it 100 Times… haha.

 Describe your perfect holiday.

I haven’t been to the snow that many times, but I LOVE the cold and warm food and hot drinks and wearing cosy clothing, so probably a ski trip!

In such a short time frame Sarah has accomplished great heights. Personally being selected by Normani to feature in her playlist is such a huge recognition for the hard work she puts into her music.

Check out her new track below or head to our Work/Study/Chill From Home ✌️ playlist to hear more great songs just like this one.
